Turf Insects:

Can Merit™ or Mach 2™ be Justified in an IPM Program? - [Submitted by: Dr. Pat Vittum] - Two of the insecticides used most commonly on white grubs in New England are imidacloprid (usually sold as Merit™) and halofenozide (often sold as Mach 2™). Many turf managers have asked whether either of these products could be justified in an IPM program. Posted: 05/03/2005.

Turf Weeds:

Weed Management Guide - [Submitted by: Dr. Prasanta Bhowmik/Randall Prostak] - Provides extensive information about registered turf herbicide products. Includes specifics on application, timing, and environmentally responsible use. This information is excerpted from the recently revised Professional Guide for IPM in Turf for Massachusetts. NEW! 2007-2008 UMass Snow Mold Control Evaluation - [Submitted by: Dr. Geunhwa Jung, et al.] - This report features the performance of 42 snow mold control products from trials conducted at the UMass Joseph Troll Turf Research Center and three golf course field sites. Includes data presented at the 2008 UMass Snow Mold Field Days. Posted: 4/15/2008

NEW! 2008 Snow Mold Incidence Evaluation - [Submitted by: Dr. Scott Ebdon]- This report details the differential response of turfgrass species and varieties to snow mold pressure. Features pertinent data for NTEP bentgrasses, perennial ryegrasses, and Kentucky bluegrasses at two heights-of-cut (0.5" and 1.25"). Includes data presented at the 2008 UMass Snow Mold Field Days. Protecting Turfgrass from Typhula Blight - [Submitted by: Dr. Geunhwa Jung] - A report on a multi-year trial of 70-80 fungicide combinations for Typhula suppression on bentgrass fairways at several golf course locations in Wisconsin and Minnesota. This article appeared previously in the Turfgrass Trends External Link newsletter. Posted: 10/02/2006.

UPDATED! Turf Fungicide Chart Adobe PDF Icon - [Submitted by: Dr. Geunhwa Jung, et al.] - This comprehensive piece has been thoroughly revised, and outlines detailed information about currently registered turf fungicide products and the diseases they control. The latest revision includes FRAC codes which are useful for preventing fungicide resistance. This chart will be continually updated as new information becomes available. A portion of this information is excerpted from the Professional Guide for IPM in Turf for Massachusetts. Last updated: 06/17/2008.

Snow Mold Fungicide Trial Summary - [Submitted by: Dr. Gail Schumann] - This article summarizes several years of snow mold fungicide research data from UMass, including trial results and real-world results. Posted: 10/22/2003.

Kentucky Bluegrasses for Sports Turf - [Submitted by: Dr. Scott Ebdon] - Results of wear and shear treatments applied to the NTEP 2000 Kentucky bluegrass trial. Very useful for selecting Kentucky bluegrass cultivars for sports applications. This article appeared previously in the Turf Notes newsletter. Posted: 05/06/2004

Tolerance of Kentucky Bluegrass and Tall Fescue to Low and High Temperature Disease - [Submitted by: Dr. Scott Ebdon] - Results of low and high temperature disease observations on the NTEP 2000 Kentucky bluegrass trial and the 2001 NTEP tall fescue trial.
